I've been writing stories since I was a kid. I started out writing fiction, but today you'll find me writing mostly about climate change. I still write fiction, and I'm really interested in the ways that stories can help people imagine a more sustainable world, a topic I explore in depth on my podcast Stories for Earth. But I wasn't always this way.
Growing up in the conservative Deep South in the United States, I used to think climate change wasn't real. In fact, I hardly thought about climate change at all until 2016 when I saw the National Geographic documentary Before the Flood. This film opened my eyes to the very real and imminent dangers posed by climate change, an understanding that gained more urgency with the IPCC's release of the Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5ºC in 2018. After reading about the report in the news, I felt I could no longer stand on the sidelines. I would do everything I could to live more sustainably and to push for climate action.
I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia where I work remotely for a B2B software marketing company. I came across Jointly after looking for ways to volunteer my professional skills as a content marketer to environmental non-profits, and I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to contribute to Jointly's mission of connecting professionals with online volunteering projects.
